Bluecoat Academy

It has been an absolute pleasure to visit Bluecoat Academy, Nottingham today. I spoke to around 150 children, in 3 groups, who all enjoyed learning about writing and publishing ‘Hattie and friends’. 34 took away a signed copy of a  book and some more orders are on their way!

Many thanks to Mrs Marklew for inviting me, and to all the staff and children for making me so welcome.

New Sales Record!

I’ve enjoyed some really lovely school visits over the last couple of months. These pictures are from Sir Francis Hill School in Lincoln where I talked to 7 classes about ‘Hattie and friends’! I was also invited back to the school to take part in their end of term ‘Bonkers about Books Celebration’.

Early in May I visited Norton School in Sheffield where Mrs Walton had been very busy collecting lots of book orders for me. A new sales record of 77 books for 1 school!!

Following last week’s Facebook post I’ve had lots of enquiries and booked 6 more school visits for June and July. Please ‘Like’ Hattie and friends page on FB to see all the latest news and offers.

If you would like a school visit just get in touch!

MTG_2017 Conference

What a fabulous day at the MTG_2017 Conference in Brighton last Saturday! I delivered 2 Inclusion Workshops to delegates and had a stall in the Market Place. I met a lot of Childcare Professionals who were inspired by all the talks, workshops and other events throughout the day. Here are just a few pics of the day.

Reception Class at Sir Francis Hill Primary

Sir Francis Hill Primary School have been tweeting about my visit last week. Here’s their lovely Reception Class!

Following my recent Facebook post I’ve just booked a visit to a school in Sheffield for after Easter. If you search for ‘Hattie and friends’ and like our FB page you’ll get to see all news and offers!

Another 40 books sold!

What a great week! A trade order for 40 books on Monday and then I sold another 40 books at Francis Hill Primary  Scool on Wednesday.

Just to finish off the week I’ve just received orders for 3 more books.

I’ve also sent a sample pack to a few schools who are interested in having a visit.

I’ve heard such lovely feedback this week too, it feels great! Thank you.

Busy Week!

I posted a nice trade order for 40 books today! If you know a supplier who may want to stock ‘Hattie and friends’ please get in touch.

I’m visiting Sir Francis Hill Primary School in Lincoln tomorrow. They have organised 7 groups of children for me, from Reception to Year 2!

I’ve just been finishing off my workshop presentation for Minding the Gap Conference, which is in Brighton on Sat 25th March. Workshop numbers are just being finalised but, apparently my Inclusion Workshop is proving very popular – Great!

Bassingham Primary School Visit

It’s been an absolute pleasure to talk to Year 2 and Year 4 classes today where my daughter attended 6 years ago. How time flies!

There were definitely some budding authors and illustrators in the 2 groups. I hope they enjoyed my visit and I hope i have inspired them to work hard towards their dreams.

The children asked me for autographs at the end of the session. I’m famous at last!

Mannequal

There was a great story on BBC Breakfast this morning about urging retailers and the fashion industry to become more inclusive.

Sophie Morgan has designed a mannequin ‘seat’ to display clothes worn as a wheelchair user. It’s great! Unfortunately some retailers used the inclusive display during the Paralympics but not regularly since then.

Why not? We need to see positive images of disability all around us, all the time. Let’s get inclusive!

Minding the Gap 2017

I will be running inclusive workshops at this conference and selling my books in the marketplace. This event is at the University of Brighton, Falmer Site, on March 25th. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!

New Blog!

I visited Normanby by Spital Primary School in Lincolnshire yesterday. It was a pleasure to play my matching game and read ‘Hattie and friends’ stories with the reception class. I went on to spend some time with Yrs 1-3 and talk to them about the process of writing and publishing my books. All the children looked so interested and inspired, I wonder if we have any budding authors there?!

I have some more school visits booked in February then a couple of book fairs for World Book Day in March.

At the end of March I will be delivering some inclusive workshops at the ‘Minding the Gap’ Conference, in Brighton. Early Bird tickets are available ’til 6th Feb for only £55! For more details: www.mindingthegap2017.weebly.com

I hope you’re all keeping busy, let me know what you’re up to! lesley@hattieandfriends.co.uk
